About This Blog

In the summer of 1980, my father broke his neck in a freak diving accident, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down as a C5 quadriplegic.  Amazingly, he managed to raise my sister and I from a wheelchair for the next 17 years.  Our lives were full of ups and downs, but we took care of each other and made the best of what we had.  Later in life, I struggled with alcoholism where I ultimately hit bottom.  By the grace of God, the support of some friends, and my amazing wife, I found recovery and was able to turn my life around.  Life today is better...by a mile.
Although life has been challenging, I'm convinced that every second of it has shaped me into the person I am today, and I wouldn't change any of it.  It has also made for some pretty incredible and entertaining memories.

The main purpose of this blog is to allow me to share some of the stories of my past in a way that hopefully encourages other people who have gone or are going through similar challenges in their lives.  You can read more about the beginning of my blog here.  I hope you find something helpful here.  I've seen firsthand that, through faith and persistence, life can be pretty awesome.

In loving memory of our father, who spent his life teaching us how to live ours.
